President’s Report – March 2019

Greetings Highland Park!

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunny weather we are having and the tons of butterflies fluttering about announcing the coming of spring. The HHPNC board meeting was held last Thursday to vote on several pending items and events that I would like to bring to your attention.

The HHPNC executive board is working on a community town hall to discuss with city planning department, CD14, VICE and Alcohol Beverage Control representatives. Stakeholders will have a chance to ask questions. The community town hall will take place on March 21 at the Highland Park Senior Center from 6:45 – 9:00 PM. Spanish translation will be provided.

The HHPNC Housing, Homelessness and Renters Committee is collaborating with Avenue 50 Studio on an event to help individuals experiencing homelessness called, Day of Compassion, where free food, clothes, women’s shoes and hygiene items will be provided for free. The Day of Compassion will take place on March 23 at the Avenue 50 Studio from 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM. Avenue 50 Studio is located on 131 N Avenue 50, off of Figueroa Street.

HHPNC board elections to elect new board members for the 2019-2021 term will be held on April 13th at the Highland Park Senior Center from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM held by the City Clerk’s office. I urge you all to vote on this day. Here is the link to view the list of HHPNC candidates: https://clerkappsele.lacity.org/nccandidates/?ncid=71
